Training
'You can do it!'
'YOU CAN DO IT' SESSIONS In each Deanery (or collection of Deaneries) 2 hour training sessions are being planned to be finished by refreshments.
By the end of the session attendees would have the tools needed to start engaging with young people whenever they are. The sessions would cover topics such as:
- Reaching Young People Where are the young people? How do you engage with young people?
- What ways are there? What practical steps can we take and where do we start? Resourcing the Work How do you work with young people? This session will give you the basics and new ideas for working with young people. From basic child protection and good practice to programme planning and running and resourcing youth work.
- Keeping the work going for a life time So now we've started how do we keep engaging with the young people and how do we keep the young people interested? This session looks at the practical parts of long term youth work. Further details fronm the Youth Team at Church House 0191 270 4252
- Equipping- for those working with young people
The competencies are achieved through a set of training sessions and the completion of a portfolio and lead to achieving a Bishop's or Archbishops' Certificate in youth work—depending on the level you want to achieve. To receive your certificate you will have to attend one of the courses and complete your portfolio over a period time (to suit you). This is basic level training and would be a natural progression into the Church Colleges' Certificate in youth work.
