In the years of apartheid in South Africa, Desmond Tutu wrote,

Lord, help us to learn that goodness is stronger than evil,
that love is stronger than hate,
that light is stronger than darkness
that life is stronger than death

and we pray that light will be stronger than darkness in our lives and in our world.
